Sam Houston STEM Academy Christmas Program Details 🎄❤️

Good morning! Due to testing on campus this week, there will NOT be Robotics or Honor Choir Practice after school. If your child needs to go home on an alternate route from their regular afternoon transportation, please call the office before 2:30 p.m. If the transportation change is not made to the office, your student will be sent home their usual way.

Testing Mode on ✅ This week we will have Common Assessments and Benchmark testing for all grade levels, K-5. We know that testing can be stressful for students, and though it doesn’t tell us all the wonderful things your child can do, these assessments help us to guide our instruction and ensure student success & mastery. As a team, we can work together to limit distractions and provide the best testing environment possible. • Make sure your student gets plenty of rest • Eat breakfast • Be a HERO- H.ere E.veryday R.eady O.n time • No visitors or guests on campus • No lunch deliveries or lunch guests • No early checkouts • Encourage your student to show what they know, take their time, and do their best! Good morning, Reminder: Big Kahuna Pickup is today, 11/15/2024, from 12pm - 4pm at Eastern Hills Church of Christ (2705 E Travis St). Please make arrangements for your order to be picked up during this time. Orders can be picked up by family members or friends. They will just need to provide the student's name. It's a great day to be a Maverick! Go Mavs, Beat those BEARS!!!!

Sam Houston Family Annual Thanksgiving Lunch 🦃 🍗Tomorrow, 11/14/24🍗 • Please bring your photo ID • For the safety and security of our students and staff, as well as to help with the flow of foot traffic, the main office entrance will be exit only- there will be a check in table located at the gate just East of the office near the bus turn around. Staff will assist you with visitor badges and direct you to the correct cafeteria entrance and/or food service line if you purchased tickets for a lunch. 🍽️❤️🦃 We cannot wait to see you all there and are excited to fellowship and feast together! 🦃🧡🍽️

One of our favorite days of the school year is tomorrow 📚 Our Annual Storybook Character Campus Parade is tomorrow, 10/31/2024. Students are encouraged to dress as their favorite storybook character. Costumes must be school friendly, no weapons, masks or face coverings. Campus will be CLOSED to visitors starting from 8:45 am-9:45 am. We will stream through facebook live starting around 9:00. We are so excited to see all of our characters!! ❤️🤘🏽

Happy Homecoming ❤️🤘🏽 A few reminders • Student Council Photo Booth $5- get your photo taken in your best Mav spirit/ Homecoming dress- all proceeds donated to Buncombe County Schools Foundation. The Photo Booth will be set up in room 111 beginning at 7:00am. •Students may wear Mums and Garters, please tape any bells or whistles to minimize distractions during instructional time. •We cannot accept special flower or gift deliveries for students on campus. • All Big Kahuna PTO fundraiser money was due today, if you have not already turned it in please do so asap. All online sales will continue through 10/15 and count toward student rewards. *Fall Break for students* October 7th-14th, students return to campus 10/15. The Sam Houston STEM Academy Student Council has made the decision to donate the proceeds from tomorrow's photo booth to the Buncombe County Schools Foundation in Buncombe County, North Carolina, to aid in Hurricane Helene recovery efforts in their community. There are over 20 elementary schools alone in Ashville, NC, and surrounding areas of the county that have been affected by this catastrophic event. To help, please participate in our Homecoming Photo Booth on Friday, October 4th. Additional donations will also be accepted. We have been in touch with the Executive Director of Buncombe County Schools Foundation, Mrs. Cheek, who stated they " are in great need and appreciate your thoughts and support."

Any transportation changes or early check outs must be called into the office or checked out no later than 11:15 AM. Transportation changes MUST be called into the office, not the teacher or your student. If you have not contacted the front office your student will be sent home their normal route of transportation. Due to an early release schedule tomorrow, all students will be served lunch as normal and eat in their classrooms. No lunch guests on campus tomorrow. Thank you for your cooperation ❤️🤘🏽
